May 2015 Beauty Box 5

May 19, 2015

I was surprised to find out from the entries so far on my 3 Year Blogiversary Giveaway that some of my readers’ favorite posts are my unboxings! I haven’t really been keeping up with them because I felt like they were taking over my YouTube channel, but also because I hadn’t been really moved to share what was being sent. Either the shipping was screwy and I wouldn’t get it in time, or the products inside were just sorta bleh.

May 2015 Beauty Box 5 | Slashed Beauty

Anyway, I figured that I’d ask what you all think I should do… Beauty Box 5 has kept me less interested over the past few months and I’m not sure if I should keep reviewing them. So after this box, let me know if you want to keep seeing them or not!

The theme for the May 2015 Beauty Box 5 was “SOS”, or Super Outstanding Skin, although I’m not quite sure they really stuck to that. Watch the video below for a closer look at the products and my first impressions.

Product Breakdown:

1. Bio Swiss Stainless Steel Mini Tweezer (Full Size, Retail $4.99)
Small tweezers are actually a lot easier for me to personally use than “full size” ones. Also, they’re just a bit more convenient to carry around with you in your bag if you need to keep your brows #onpoint throughout the day. So, these are a pretty handy addition to the box.

2. Essenza Luxury Hand Soap (Sample Size, Retail $4.99)
Although I actually really like this soap, a sample size of hand soap just sorta leaves me scratching my head. It’s not like it has a pump… and I trust that most places I travel to will provide soap… so…

3. Styli-Style Blush/Highlighter Stick (Full Size, Retail $5.99)
I like using cream blush in stick format because it is super easy to apply and just blend with the fingers. This one, in the shade Pretty in Pink, is super shimmery so I’ll be saving it for special looks.

4. Dermalogica Active Moist (Sample Size, Retail $60)
Actually keeping with the skincare theme of the box, this sample of the popular brand’s moisturizer will actually come in handy as the weather changes and so does our skin! It’s oil free, which makes it good for most skin types and helps even out skin texture.

5. Coastal Scents Classic/Synthetic Brush (Full Size, Retail 2.49)
So this brush is even cheaper than I said it was in the video— although, a welcome addition to my overgrown brush collection!

So, what do you guys think? Worth it, or no? I think that it just hit the mark of reaching the $12 price point of the box, and still falls short of excitement. If you want to check out what else BB5 has to offer, visit their website.
